My fiancé doesn’t want to do a first dance — what should I do?
We find more often than not that it is usually the idea of the first dance that can put someone off wanting to practice for one. By working alongside us you will quickly realise the first dance has little to do with dance ability or being ‘flashy’ and everything to do with connection and the sentiment of you as a couple. Time and time again it serves as a lovely bonding activity in amongst the wedding planning in the lead up to your big day.
We’ve never danced before — is it too late to learn?
It’s never too late to learn! When it comes to your First Dance the aim isn’t professional performance standard; it’s to showcase yours and your fiancé’s love through movement and connection to a song that’s meaningful to the both of you. For this you don’t need to be an expert dancer, all we ask is for you to show up open and in your authenticity and allow us to do the rest!
How do we pick our first dance song?
Showcasing your love is our expertise so allow your hearts to lead you in this decision. We can create your dance to any song of your choice so spend some time together going down memory lane and allow yourselves to be taken in the musical direction in which you are pulled. Should you seek an opinion we are here to help but we would always encourage you to trust yourselves on this one!

What should we wear to lessons?
We always recommend wearing the shoes that you’ll be wearing on the day (or similar to if you are saving them for the big day) as well as clothing similar to what you’ll be wearing so this could be a smart jacket or a flowing skirt for example. Practicing this way will help you to feel comfortable on the day as your clothing and footwear will feel somewhat familiar.
When should we start lessons?
Ideally 6-8 weeks before the wedding as this allows time to learn, practice, and feel relaxed. This is however just a general rule. From our experience this tends to be a largely personality driven decision. Some couples enjoy a light touch approach with minimal guidance after the initial period with ourselves. Others prefer the comfort of practice in our presence and choose to spend more time in rehearsals and practice. Further considerations include how long you want your dance to be as well as if you opt for the inclusion of the bridal party or grooms men for example in which case more time is generally required to achieve this. Even so, with all that said even starting 2–3 weeks before your big day still allows time to assist you in achieving your dance of dreams! So wherever you’re at, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Can we involve our parents or bridal party?
Yes! This is your dance and we are here to help you execute it the way you’ve always envisioned! You can add: Parent dances (father–daughter, mother–son, etc.) Group bridal party routines Or even fun mash-ups that surprise guests View our offering in First Dance and Entertainment to understand more about how the WOW can go beyond your First dance.

What if I want to surprise my partner?
Go for it — just plan carefully! You can prepare a mini-routine or short solo moment that transitions into your shared dance. We will help design something memorable for your special day. And we have 1-1 tutoring for grooms too!
What’s the best way to calm nerves before the first dance?
Practice together. One run through every other day for example. Couples have shared that it’s a lovely way to keep the stress at bay and to connect amid some of the more stressful parts that can accompany wedding planning. Smile at each other — it relaxes your body and reminds you it’s your moment. Don’t worry about perfection. The best dances are full of laughter and connection. You can look through our gallery and testimonials pages to see what others who have worked with us have to say.
We have chosen the Gold Package but we want to have a couple more hours of tuition with you, is it possible?
Anything is possible! Whatever your chosen package, if you complete your hours of tuition with us but still feel like you want or need more, we can add more tuition times and price will vary accordingly to your event.
